America Ferrera has lost a whole lot of weight. There have been some tongues a-wagging saying that she’s given into pressure from the industry. America has been like a shining light in the midst of the size zero storm.
But it’s reported that she has lost 20 lbs (9 kg) in recent weeks. Wonder if this will have an effect on how she comes across as the star of Ugly Betty. Will she still be seen as a role model? America is standing by her new body and blames the weight loss on a hectic shooting schedule.
She told US magazine, “I feel like I’m a regular person. I’m a size 10 or 12, which is totally normal. But I feel that since I wanted to get in better shape, there has been a bit of a backlash.”

She was recently voted the sexiest woman in Hollywood, but staying fit has been a struggle for actress Scarlett Johansson.
While filming The Other Boleyn Girl early this year, Scarlett’s fondness of sweets and her love of British pubs caused her to “pile on so many pounds that a number of scenes had to be re-shot”, reveals an insider adding that, “the problem was that Scarlett piled on weight during filming.
“There was concern that she looked thin in some scenes and heavier in others.” The insider added, “Scarlett looks sensational, but the problem is that her weight has gone up and down because she likes her food.
“She’s a fan of British pubs and she really tucks in so it was a case of tightening the corset stays.”
