FULLERTON, Calif. (June 15) - Police say the wife of rapper Snoop Dogg has been arrested in California's Orange County for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Fullerton police Lt. Craig Brower says officers stopped 32-year-old Shante (Shahn-taye) Broadus of Sherman Oaks about 12:15 a.m. Saturday and took her to jail. She was cited and then released pending a court appearance.Brower says nobody else was in the car but he didn't have any other details.Broadus and Snoop Dogg - whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr. - were married in 1997 and have three children.A message left with Snoop Dogg's publicist was not immediately returned.

Page Six reports that Kidman, who's been denying pregnancy rumors over the last few weeks, has quit her role in Stephen Daldry's drama 'The Reader.' The report claims that because of Kidman's past miscarriages, she's taking extra precautions by dropping out of the film.

The post-WWII drama set in Germany was reportedly set to begin filming this month.

Just before the new year, Kidman shot down pregnancy rumors , with her rep saying: "It is incorrect ... she must have had about 30 babies by now."

The MSNBC source claims that Cruise "isn't making money in the theaters anymore, and considering that just about every penny that a movie makes has to go back to the actor, it makes it really tough for any films to make any money."

'Valkyrie,' Cruise's film about a Nazi officer who plots to kill Adolf Hitler, had its trailer leak on the Internet last week, and it has been met with less-than-stellar buzz. Some 12,000 screenwriters went on strike against the U.S. film and television industry Monday after the collapse of last-ditch contract negotiations aimed at preserving nearly 20 years of Hollywood labor peace.

Ten hours of bargaining presided over by a federal mediator failed to close a deal before a strike deadline set last Friday by the Writers Guild of America, which has sought a greater share of DVD and Internet revenues for its members.
The initial impact of a strike for most of the public will be felt on television.

Popular late-night talk shows such as NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman," which are produced on a day-to-day basis and depend on a steady supply of topical jokes and sketches, were expected to go into immediate reruns.

Prime-time comedies such as the CBS hit "Two and a Half Men" and Kelsey Grammer's new Fox sitcom "Back to You" also are expected to be knocked out of production because they depend on a substantial amount of last-minute script rewrites.

Even as talks in Los Angeles had dragged on late on Sunday, the union's East Coast branch declared it was going ahead with the walkout at 12:01 a.m. EST, and the larger West Coast contingent joined the work stoppage three hours later.

The first picket lines went up outside General Electric Co.'s NBC television headquarters at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City.

"I'm a member of the guild and I am here to support my fellow guild members," said actress and "Saturday Night Live" veteran Tina Fey, who currently stars on, writes and produces the NBC sitcom "30 Rock," a parody of the TV industry.

"This strike affects the show in which I work. We put our pens down yesterday, and we will not write until negotiations resume," she said.

Picketing outside NBC Studios in Burbank, California, "Tonight Show" head writer Joe Meceiros said, "There will be no 'Tonight Show' tonight."

"I'm disappointed the corporations didn't come to the table any more seriously than they did," he said. "None of us wanted a strike. We were driven to this. I'm fighting for the future of every writer."

Christina Aguilera finally addressed one of the worst kept secrets in show biz.

In an interview with Glamour magazine, the pop diva confessed that she'll "enter into mommyhood" sometime next year, according to the BBC.

Aguilera told the magazine she intends to be a working mom, who like so many others will seek to "balance" her family and her career.

Luckily, she can count on husband Jordan Bratman for help. He's "so supportive and amazing through everything," she told the magazine. "He came with me on the last leg of the tour and he was my support system. ... I gush. I'm a lucky girl."

Pregnancy rumors had followed pop queen Christina Aguilera for months. In July, E! Online reported that the singer is expecting her first child.

Publicists for Aguilera and her husband, music executive Jordan Bratman, did not make any comments at the time.

Months ago, Page Six had reported that the songstress had been "telling friends" all about her baby news. Blogs have been making much of Aguilera breaking away from her usual skimpy fashions to wear bulkier clothing.

'Prison Break' Star Gets 40 Months in Jail

Former "Prison Break" actor Lane Garrison was sentenced to three years and four months in prison Wednesday for a drunken driving crash that killed a teenager last December.

The 27-year-old actor could have faced nearly seven years in prison.

Garrison was driving a 2001 Land Rover on Dec. 2 when he lost control and rammed a tree. The crash killed his passenger Vahagn Setian, a Beverly Hills High School student. Two 15-year-old girls in the car survived.

Garrison had a blood-alcohol content of 0.20 percent, more than twice the legal limit for driving, and was under the influence of cocaine, according to police.

The actor pleaded guilty in May to one count of vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, one count of driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 percent or higher and a misdemeanor of providing alcohol to a minor.

The Los Angeles County prosecutor's office has for four years and eight months, two years less than the maximum.

At his last court appearance Aug. 2, the actor apologized to the victim's family.

"I have relived that night every day and I think about the bad decisions I made. I can say to you I am so sorry that you lost someone because I love people. That is my first passion," he said.

'Saw IV' Cuts the Competition to Pieces

The killer of the "Saw" franchise may be dead, but his sadistic spirit lives on. Lionsgate's "Saw IV" led the weekend box office with $32.1 million, maintaining the horror franchise's position as a Halloween perennial, according to studio estimates Sunday.

Debuting at No. 2 was Disney's "Dan in Real Life," a romance starring Steve Carell , Juliette Binoche and Dane Cook that took in $12.1 million.
Overall Hollywood revenues declined for the sixth-straight weekend, though business was off only a fraction compared to the same weekend last year. The top-12 movies took in $86.1 million, down 2 percent, better results than the previous weeks, when business had fallen significantly more.

The results for "Saw IV" were on par with the debut of "Saw III," which pulled in $33.6 million over the same weekend last year. Since the original low-budget "Saw" became an out-of-nowhere fright sensation in 2004, Lionsgate has released a new chapter each October, all hits.

"I would expect to see 'Saw V' next year, 'Saw VI' the year after that and 'Saw VII' the following year if they can keep it up," said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media By Numbers. "There's just something inherently gruesome and compelling about these movies. I don't know what that says about society in general, but it certainly works at the box office."

"Saw IV" features post-mortem horrors concocted by the fiendish killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell , seen in flashbacks), whose autopsy turns up a cassette tape in his entrails that leads the cops into a new snare of torture puzzles the madman left behind.

"Dan in Real Life" was the prime choice for the date crowd. The movie stars Carell as a widower raising three daughters who falls for his brother's new girlfriend (Binoche) during a family reunion.

In narrower release, Roadside Attractions' "Bella" opened solidly with $1.3 million. The film stars Eduardo Verastegui as a former soccer player who hooks up with a pregnant waitress (Tammy Blanchard).

Thinkfilm's "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead," directed by Sidney Lumet ("Dog Day Afternoon," ''Network"), opened strongly in limited release at two New York City theaters with $73,500. The film, which gradually expands into nationwide release through November, stars Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ethan Hawke as brothers in financial straits who plot to rob their parents' jewelry store.

A high-profile documentary, Sony Pictures Classics' "Jimmy Carter: Man From Plains," had a poor debut, taking in just $10,573 at seven theaters. The film from director Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") follows the former president during a tour to promote his book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid."

Estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Media By Numbers LLC. Final figures will be released Monday.

This is not Diddy's first violent dust-up while out on the town. Last February, he allegedly punched out a man in an argument over a woman at an Oscars afterparty in Holly- wood.

Lovebirds Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson move up the public display of affection ladder, walking hand-in-hand as they arrive at the Los Angeles International Airport on Monday after a flight from Vancouver.

Things must be really heating up for Ryan (30) and Scarlett (22) as they were visiting Ryan’s hometown of Vancouver.

Scarlett probably took the trip out to Canada to meet Ryan’s parents!

In April, the couple was spotted “canoodling” while dining at Manhattan restaurant.

In May, the pair was spotted kissing and holding hands at a concert in West
Hollywood.

Back in February, Ryan called off his engagement to singer Alanis Morissette.

Halle is in mommy mode

Now that she has finally announced her pregnancy, Halle Berry has got into mommy mode. She was recently spotted shopping for baby clothes with her mother, Judith Ann.

Dressed in a short white dress, the three-months-pregnant former Bond babe and her mom laughed and talked as they hit up at a baby boutique in West Hollywood.

Meanwhile, it was recently announced that soul singer Aretha Franklin has
Halle in mind to portray her in an upcoming biopic From These Roots.

“I have an interest in Halle Berry possibly doing it,” said Aretha. But with a baby on board, it’s questionable whether or not Halle would be willing to take on a new role.

Reese: ‘I can be fun!’

And while the media has attributed her relationship woes to her “control freak” ways, Reese Witherspoon says that these claims are just not true.

The Legally Blonde babe recently defended herself to Elle magazine, saying, “I wouldn’t be able to do what
I do if I were (always in control).

“I wouldn’t be able to have the empathy or the capacity to understand different lives.”

Continuing on, Reese told, “I’m fun. I can be really fun.
“I can tell we’d have a lot of fun if the (interviewer’s) tape was off…”

“I think it’s great to drink in the middle of the day.
“I would join you, but I got to drive to pick up the kids.

“You’re taking taxis everywhere. You could get drunk! You could go from appointment to appointment highly, highly smashed!”

It was recently reported that Reese and Jake Gyllenhaal have called it quits for a second time.

Only a few weeks after reuniting, the Rendition co-stars were clearly on the outs again while promoting their film at the Toronto International Film Festival last week.

A source close to the duo confided to Us Weekly, “They’re a rocky couple. It would not be a shock if they got back together.”

Spears, Federline keep joint custody

Although Britney Spears' former bodyguard said he would testify about "nudity . . . drug use and safety issues involving the children" in the singer's custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears and Federline will keep a joint custody agreement, reports TV show "The Insider" via US Weekly magazine.
Mel Goldsman, a colleague of Spears' new lawyer, said Monday's hearing affirmed the joint custody agreement between Spears and Federline.
Spears also faced two other fires to put out Monday, reports the New York Daily News: Her new manager, Jeff Kwatinetz, and her lawyer, Laura Wasser, have quit.
Wasser left defending her client, though, denying the former bodyguard's allegations of Spears' drug use.
"He isn't a credible witness," Wasser said.
